The Lady Bobcat JV/freshmen team took on Ft. Washakie just before Christmas break, unfortunately losing a close one, 44-40.
Coach Katie Despain said, “Overall, this game was good for our girls to experience. Ft. Washakie came out with two different presses that we were not ready for.”
Despain said the girls adapeted well once they understood the strategies needed to break the two presses.
Although a close game, it really came down to missed free throws at the end by the Lady Cats. They shot 43 percent at the line, a percentage Despain hopes to see improve as the season progresses.
“Our defense was once again better,” she said, “and I forsee that to continue throughout the season. As long as we continue to improve on the fundamentals, we will continue to improve as a team.”
Elisa Weber, a 5’9” sophomore, was the high scorer against Ft. Washakie with 12 points.
Following close behind was freshman Dana Sandberg with eight, Emmy Norsworthy and Reagan Severance, both with six points, Brianna DeVries with five, Jasmine Collins dropped in two points and Jazmen Jensen popped in a free throw for one point.
