It is that “Most Wonderful Time of the Year” when the air is crisp and cold, children are out of school and families and friends gather ‘round the table to feast on “roast beast,” fudge and divinity and all the egg nog you can drink.
There is still that last minute shopping to get done and don’t forget you need one more trip to the grocery store, just to be sure you have everything. Batteries.
Carols are for singing, bells are for ringing, snowmen for making and, of course, a trip down the hill on that new sled.
This is a time when memories are made, snuggled on the couch with the kids and the dog, watching “A Charlie Brown Christmas” for the 40th time since you were a kid yourself.
The house is filled with the scent of pine mixed with sugar cookies, decorated with extra icing just for Santa.
See the piles of wrapping paper, ribbons, bows and boxes? All those hours of lovingly wrapping each gift, miles of tape securing each corner, only to watch the livingroom explode with shouts of joy, giggles and one boring pair of socks.
And once the house has settled down for the night and you’re getting ready for bed, pulling that half-eaten, sticky candy cane off the bottom of your slipper, you smile, and send up a prayer of thanks for all the little blessings that surround you each day, and this day, especially...Christmas.
Merry Christmas from our Independent Record family to yours.
