Pride in our talented Bobcats

I am perpetually amazed at the talent that abounds in the children of Thermopolis. Not just amazed, but incredibly proud, too.

All you have to do is attend a concert or a play or dance performance and you’ll know what I mean.

Take our Drama Club, for example. These kids went to the state competition in Casper last weekend and rocked the boards. Not only did they present the best proscenium performance in the state, they brought home a majority of the All State titles, too.

Reminds me of the inaugural year of All State titles for speech when Hot Springs County had six of the top 10 spots.

And our little dancers! I attended their spring performance this year, which was incredible, so I’m really looking forward to their Winter Wonderland show on Friday night.

Music has always been a mainstay with Thermopolis students. Years of Wildcat Band taught me more about life, respect, honor and pride than anything else I’ve ever done.

Today’s students are learning the same things in our music programs along with dedication. Not only are they working during school hours, a good many of them are working after school and before school to ensure they’re ready for their concert tonight (Thursday).

A lot of today’s youth get a bad rap. They’re referred to as snowflakes or Millenials, said to be lazy and only think of themselves, but I’ll tell you, you won’t find that in Thermopolis.

Bobcat pride and personal pride are alive and well in the halls of Hot Springs County School District #1.
