Juniors Chandler Maddock and Jeffery VanAntwerp, and senior Noah Schwalbe have been selected as Wyoming Coaches Association All-State players for 2A football.
Coach Matt McPhie said, “Chandler had an incredible season for us. He led all of 2A in kickoff returns averaging 28.1 yards per kick return which included a season best 86-yard return for a touchdown. Chandler played the game with relentless effort and enthusiasm. Chandler led Thermopolis in scoring with 12 touchdowns. Chandler averaged 10.5 yards per attempt on offense which led the team.
“Noah had an incredible defensive year for us. He was named 2A East Defensive player of the year. Noah led our team and 2A east in defensive points with 182. He led all of 2A in tackles for loss with 15. Noah also had a fumble recovery and an interception to go along with 88 tackles. Noah had a great senior season and his presence will be missed on and off the field.
“Jeffery had a breakout season for us on defense. He had 106 defensive points and was a very consistent competitor for us week in and week out. Jeffery played the game with fearless passion and heart. Jeffery is an extremely intelligent football player who worked very hard in the off-season and is a great example and leader for our program.”
McPhie further added he is “extremely proud of the effort and attitude that all of our players exhibited this past season. They fought hard every week and never backed down. We will miss our five seniors who move on. Noah Schwalbe, Andrew Yarbrough, Cullen Becher, Koy Myers, and Austin Weaver all represent the character and commitment we strive for as a football team. Congratulations to them as they move on and we thank them for all they gave and most importantly, what they leave behind.”
