Sandwich shop opens

If you've driven down Sixth Street lately, you're sure to have seen all the changes going on along the east side of the street.

One of those changes is the opening of Jay's Sandwich Shop in the former Blimpie's building.

AJ Magelky opened Jay's after deciding it was time to go out on his own and this sounded like a good adventure.

"Of course, I'm wondering what I was thinking, now," he laughed. "Eighty hours a week. I'm a little tired."

That doesn't stop Magelky from arriving early each morning to fresh-bake the bread for the day, though. And he takes the time to make cookies from scratch, too.

You'll find everything from Italian subs to meatball, roast beef or turkey, as well salads and soup of the day. There's even a kid's menu with smaller sized sandwiches for the little ones.

Jay's is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. til 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. til 3 p.m.
