Main Street Thermopolis is gearing up for the holiday season with a new Window Decorating Contest.
At their last meeting, the group decided they wanted to help main street look festive for the holiday season and came up with a window decorating contest for all the businesses to participate in.
Businesses can decorate their windows by Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25, and the community will then have plenty of time to look them all over before voting at the Christmas Tree Festival on Dec. 9.
Winning windows will receive free advertising on the Spring City online news site.
Once again, Christmas ornaments are for sale from Main Street, this year featuring the building housing the Messenger and Overfield law firm.
The collective ornaments are $30 each and are available at the chamber, Thermop Hardware, Thermopolis Print Zone and Copy Shop, Black Bear Cafe and Storyteller.
A couple of months ago the group discussed a program they had seen during a trip to Indianapolis, the Adopt-a-Block program.
They moved to create the program in Thermopolis, where various groups take over a specific block to help with beautification.
A few of the Main Street members would like to attend the 2018 Main Street NOW Conference/Wyoming Best Practices meeting in Kansas City in March. More discussion on who will be attending and costs for the event will be had over the next couple of months.
