On the Record policy
It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday, Oct. 24
7:57 a.m. Request for assistance regarding online harassment. The alleged responsible party was contacted and made aware of repercussions if it continues.
12:03 p.m. Assist with Department of Family Services (DFS) regarding a juvenile male.
Wednesday, Oct. 25
8:43 a.m. Report of a vehicle vs. cow accident on East River Road. The vehicle received minor damage, and there was no report as to whether the cow was injured.
5:38 p.m. Complainant reported lost or stolen prescription medicines. The matter is under investigation.
Thursday, Oct. 26
4:38 p.m. Welfare check on a possible suicidal subject. The subject was spoken to and determined not to be a threat to themselves.
10:52 p.m. Report of cows out on Lane 12. The deputy was able to get the animals back within a fenced area.
Sunday, Oct. 29
12:23 p.m. Report of shooting from the roadway. The matter is under investigation.
Monday, Oct. 30
1:56 p.m. Agency assist provided with DFS.
6:38 p.m. Report of a vehicle vs. deer accident south of town. There was no report regarding damage to the vehicle, and the deer was later dispatched.
Police department
Tuesday, Oct. 24
5:26 a.m. Report of a missing subject, who was later found OK.
8:53 a.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle. The owner was located and everything was in order.
11:04 a.m. Officer responded to a property line dispute. The matter was deemed civil and the parties were told to contact their personal attorneys.
11:58 a.m. Report of a dog at large. The animal could not be located.
4:54 p.m. Subject requested information regarding trespassing.
5:58 p.m. Officer responded to a citizen dispute. Jacquelyn Tuttle was arrested for alleged public intoxication, interference with an officer and breach of peace.
6:58 p.m. Complainant reported one dog attacking another. The offending dog’s owner lives outside the state.
7:09 p.m. Report of a stolen wallet. It later turned out to be a found wallet, which was returned to the rightful owner.
Wednesday, Oct. 25
7 a.m. REDDI report, though the driver was later stopped and determined to not be intoxicated.
11:33 a.m. Report of harassing phone calls. The reporting party was told to contact the service provider.
11:30 p.m. Officer responded to a family fight. Jared Dumas was arrested for alleged domestic assault and strangulation.
Thursday, Oct. 26
6:19 a.m. Report of a semi truck parked in the entrance to the armory. Everything was found to be in order.
12:34 p.m. Report of two dogs at large. Both were impounded.
1:04 p.m. Report of a barking dog. The owner was contacted.
2:34 p.m. Complainant stated a cat was trying to get into the house. The officer planned to trap the animal.
4:04 p.m. Response to an emergency signal from a vehicle. The driver was contacted and found to be OK.
Friday, Oct. 27
1:42 p.m. Complainant reported a barking dog. The owner was contacted and took the animal inside.
7:56 p.m. Complaint of a semi parked on the road. The driver was contacted and said he would move the truck.
10:26 p.m. Officer responded to a citizen dispute, though it resolved itself while he was there.
Saturday, Oct. 28
10:30 p.m. Welfare check on a subject, who was found to be OK.
10:41 p.m. REDDI report, though the suspect vehicle could not be located.
Sunday, Oct. 29
12:46 a.m. Welfare check was performed on a subject. Jared Michel was arrested for alleged minor in possession.
8:11 a.m. Report of a barking dog. The animal could not be located.
11:59 a.m. A civil standby was provided for a separation.
Monday, Oct. 30
8:58 a.m. Report of cows out on the highway. There was no further information available.
12:01 p.m. Complaint of a subject making inappropriate comments. The process of a trespass warning was discussed.
3:29 p.m. An officer standby was requested for a custody exchange.
8:43 p.m. Officer performed a traffic stop, which resulted in Casey Pate being arrested for alleged driving without an interlock device.
10:41 p.m. Welfare check performed on a subject. There was no further information available.
11:24 p.m. A bar check was performed, with no incidents reported.
Circuit court
Dustin Richardson was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance, open container, driving under suspension and having no seat belt and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 170 days suspension and one year supervised probation. Fees and fines are $1,020.
