On the Record policy
It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday, Oct. 10
10:09 a.m. Christopher Mitchell was transported from Fremont County to Hot Springs County, where he is charged with alleged theft of $1,000 or more. The charge stems from the Sept. 4 theft of a truck frmo Billie Jo Norsworhty. Mitchell was picked up in Riverton after a chase.
10:28 a.m. Report of goats out on Highway 20 North. A second report came in later of the goats being in someone else’s field.
5:38 p.m. Concerned citizen reported dirt bikes in the Warm Springs area. The bikes could not be located.
Wednesday, Oct. 11
4:12 p.m. Report from a business that a female subject’s prescriptions had been stolen.
5:39 p.m. Male subject on Highway 120 West reported a subject had moved a skid steer and taken the key.
Thursday, Oct. 12
10:30 p.m. Report of stolen medication in East Thermopolis. The complainant thought they knew who stole them.
Friday, Oct. 13
4:18 p.m. Request for a motorist assist regarding a school bus with mechanical problems on Highway 20 North. No bus was found at the provided location.
Saturday, Oct. 14
3:55 p.m. Report of a gas drive off south of town. By the time the deputy arrived, the matter was resolved.
Sunday, Oct. 15
2:46 p.m. Deputy assisted Wyoming Highway Patrol with an arrest. Anthony Holcomb was arrested on a Canon County warrant.
Monday, Oct. 16
10:57 a.m. Report received of cows out at South Yellowstone and Buffalo Creek. The animals were put back.
7:29 p.m. Report of a dog running on Highway 20 North.
Police department
Tuesday, Oct. 10
9:34 a.m. Report of unsecured premises. The resident was contacted and secured the door.
2:15 p.m. Report of a subject throwing a garbage can at a resident. The subject was contacted and trespassed from the property.
4:01 p.m. Report of dogs at large. The animals could not be located.
10:39 p.m. A found debit card was returned to its owner.
Wednesday, Oct. 11
10:01 a.m. Report of a lost dog. A subject found the animal, but when an officer arrived it was gone.
10:24 p.m. An after hours bar check was performed and no customers were located.
Thursday, Oct. 12
12:18 a.m. Report of a dog at large. The animal was impounded and the owner was contacted.
9:26 a.m. Report of vandalism to the fencing around the ballfields and playground near the armory.
2:16 p.m. Request to pick up a kitten found under a porch.
4:10 A dog a t large was retuned to its owner.
4:17 p.m. Report of a trailer standing open. It was later found someone was using it to move.
7:31 p.m. REDDI report, though the suspect vehicle could not be located.
Friday, Oct. 13
2:23 p.m. Report of a suspicious subject at Pioneer Home. The subject left of his own accord.
3:16 p.m. Jesse Tyler was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance.
8:24 p.m. Request for assistance to get some property back. The matter was deemed civil.
Saturday, Oct. 14
1:24 p.m. Suspicious activity reported at Candy Jack Park. A basketball hoop was on a table. It was later discovered town crews had found the hoop and put it out in case someone wanted it.
8:33 p.m. Report of a light being shined through a window. The light was simply a reflection.
11:14 p.m. Welfare check on a subject who was found to be OK.
Sunday, Oct. 15
10:33 a.m. Report of a subject displaying odd behavior. The subject was observed and contacted, and was determined to be OK.
7:11 p.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle could not be located.
Monday, Oct. 16
7:59 a.m. Report of a burglar alarm. The building was secured.
8:21 a.m. Request for assistance from an agency out of Maryland regarding a check fraud.
3:05 p.m. Nuisance complaint regarding a fence blocking a sidewalk. The property owner was contacted.
7:31 p.m. Report of threats being made. The subject making the threats could not be contacted.

Circuit court
Mildred Fraser was found guilty of second-offense driving under the influence and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 173 days suspension and one year supervised probation. Fees and fines are $540.
Michael Wilkinson was bound over to District Court on alleged applying pressure to the throat or neck.
Jody White was found guilty of breach of peace and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 147 days suspension and six months supervised probation. Fees and fines are $190.
Layne Walz was found guilty of criminal trespass and battery and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 180 days suspension and six months supervised probation. Fees and fines are $155.
