Bobcats hit hard Friday

The Thermopolis Bobcats struggled to make ground against Glenrock on Friday, losing to the Herders 55-12.

Coach Matt McPhie said, "We faced a very disciplined and physical football team in Glenrock and they outplayed us on Friday night. Our guys battled, we had some unfortunate breaks, but our kids stuck together and we will grow from this game.

"Offensively we struggled to sustain any drives. We went into the game knowing the best way to slow them down was to control the ball, and we were unable to do that."

McPhie noted Jon Harvey saw some action at quarterback and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to junior Ethan Becher.

Chandler Maddock had a rushing touchdown to go along with 63 yards rushing.

"Our defense played tough all night," McPhie said. "Glenrock has excellent size and technique, maaking it difficult to slow them down."

Ethan Becher led the way on defense with his hand in 18 tackles, McPhie noted. Noah Schwalbe added nine tackles and Chandler Maddock registered eight unassisted tackles. Seniors Koy Myers and Austin Weaver also played well on the defensive side.

"I'm proud of the six seniors who may have played the last game on Leroy Hayes Field. These young men have set a solid foundation for our younger players," McPhie said.

The Bobcats will next travel to Burns to take on the Broncs this Friday. Kick off is at 7 p.m.
