Mary Waldorf

Mary Jean Waldorf, 94, passed away October 3, 2017, at Wyoming Hospice Center in Casper, Wyo., surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 4, 1923, in Basin, Wyo., to Sylvester and Mary Talbot McKone. She moved to Thermopolis when she was a junior in high school and met the love of her life Jimmy Waldorf. They were married in 1944. On December 28, 1947, a daughter, Janet, was born while Jim was in the Army. On January 1951 another daughter, Jill, was born. Mary Jean spent many years working at First National Bank as a teller in Thermopolis. Still to this day people comment on how they would only go to her to make their deposit. Shortly after Jim's death in 1973, she moved to Casper to be near family. She continued her career as a teller at Hilltop National Bank for another 15 years. She always had a beautiful smile, witty personality and a kind word to everyone she crossed. She was an accomplished artist, whether painting in oil to painting animals on rocks. She was a member of Chapter K PEO and the Community Church in Thermopolis.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Mike) Dooley of Laurel, Mont., and Jill (Phil) Richardson of Casper; grandchildren, Sean Dooley of Helena, Mont., Colleen (Phil) Maurer of Laurel, Mont., Melissa Elizondo of Casper and Andrew Richardson of Casper; great-grandchildren, Donnie and Chloe Maurer of Laurel, Mont., and Alicia and Amanda Elizondo of Casper.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; brothers, Bob McKone and Paul McKone; and infant grandson, Jaime Richardson.

A Celebration of Mary's Life Service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21 at Monument Hill Cemetery. Contributions or Memorials to Central Wyoming Hospice, Casper, WY.
