Bobcat football players see Homecoming victory

A weather delay of Friday night's Homecoming game didn't stop the Hot Springs County Football program from taking a 34-20 victory over the Moorcroft Wolves. The 45-50 minute delay came in the third quarter, when there was a concern regarding incoming thunder and lightning. With the victory, the Bobcats improve to 2-3.

Coach Matt McPhie said, "It was a hard fought win and I am extremely proud of this group of young men for their commitment to preparation. This team is learning how to stick together, take ownership, and understanding and embracing competition."

McPhie noted Chandler Maddock's amazing performance, with five touchdowns. "Maddock has a big time motor and works extremely hard in preparation. Maddock runs the ball like he's on the streets of Pamplona during running of the bulls-fearless and aggressive.

"Maddock finished the day with 206 yards rushing, 108 return yards, and 27 receiving yards for a total of 341 all-purpose yards. Logan Cole had 70 yards rushing to even out the attack."

On the defensive side of the ball, McPhie said, the team was led by junior Jon Harvey "who registered 15 tackles and played inspired football. Also turning in impressive performances on the defensive side was junior Ethan Becher with 13 tackles and junior Tyson Tobar on the defensive line with seven tackles.

"It was a great team effort and we will continue to work hard and try to become the best football team we can be, at the end of the regular season."

The Bobcats face Glenrock this week. "Glenrock will be a great challenge in all facets of the game," McPhie said. "We will focus on the process, and get after it, leading up to Friday's home game vs. Glenrock." Game time is 7 p.m.
