Boy Scouts from all over the state will be hitting Hot Springs State Park this Saturday for their Council Camporee, one of the largest council events in the state. Each troop will be teaching a scout skill or activity to the Cub Scouts, like fire starting and survival skills, during the day.
Scouts will take part in a mystery contest that demands knowledge of skills covered as a Tenderfoot, 2nd Class and 1st Class. The scouts won’t know what the contest is until it is revealed later Saturday morning.
And there’s something for the Scout Masters, too, when they compete against each other in a Dutch oven dessert contest on Saturday night.
Things will wrap up on Sunday morning with a Scout’s Own Sermon which will be provided by a local Scout. The service is open to everyone and is non-denominational.
