On the Record policy

It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Wednesday, Aug. 9

12:21 p.m. Report of a structure fire in the 900 block of Shoshoni.

Sheriff’s office

Tuesday, Aug. 8

10:24 a.m. Request for assistance on East River Road, for an uncooperative family member.

10:42 a.m. Report of a scam regarding Social Security. No money was exchanged.

Law enforcement has received multiple calls of this nature, in which the targeted subject received a recorded message from an “officer with the Inspector General of Social Security.” The recording also states the person’s Social Security account and number, and that the person’s benefits are suspended, then provides a number to call.

Upon calling the number, an unknown subject alerts people a warrant has been issued for their arrest, and urges them to purchase gift cards and provide card information to resolve the warrant.

Citizens who receive such calls are advised to avoid calling numbers provided by suspicious sources, and avoid making payments over the phone or by purchasing gift or bank cards to resolve government or business matters.

Those who receive questionable communication of this nature, whether via phone, email, letter or text, are encouraged to contact the Office of the Inspector General at 800-269-0271, their local Social Security Office or the Social Security toll-free customer service number, 800-772-1213.

3:45 p.m. Request to locate a group of juveniles floating the river. Parents located the group prior to the deputy’s arrival.

Wednesday, Aug. 9

11:17 a.m. Female subject reported being harassed on social media and was directed to the HOPE Agency.

Friday, Aug. 11

12:43 p.m. Highway Patrol trooper requested a deputy for backup at mile marker 20 on Highway 120. Prior to the deputy’s arrival, the trooper had arrested a subject. Craig Weber was arrested on a Converse County warrant for alleged failure to pay fines.

Sunday, Aug. 13

7:57 p.m. Highway Patrol trooper requested a deputy at mile marker 4 on Highway 120. When the deputy arrived, a subject was already in the patrol vehicle. Kelly Jo Burr was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Monday, Aug. 14

11:13 a.m. A backpack was found in the area of the Wedding of the Waters. There was no information on the contents.

4:29 p.m. Deputies were advised if a red SUV driving erratically in the canyon. The vehicle was located in town and the driver, Tamera Rollins was contacted. There were inconsistencies in the registration VIN number she had and the physical VIN number, and it was found the vehicle was stolen from Las Vegas. Rollins was arrested for alleged possession of stolen property and driving under suspension.

10:47 p.m. Complainant advised a subject was asked to leave a business but could be seen outside arguing with somone. Lisa Mankin was arrested for interference with an officer and intoxicated pedestrian on roadway.

Tuesday, Aug. 8

7:37 a.m. Subject turned in a phone. The owner later came in, identified the phone and picked it up.

9:24 a.m. Report of construction debris on the road. Traffic control was provided while the material was cleaned up.

Wednesday, Aug. 9

9:25 a.m. Report of a subject living in an RV at an unapproved location.

10:38 a.m. Report of nuisance weeds. The police department responded to several reports in the past week of weeds at residences and businesses, and property owners have been notified.

Thursday, Aug. 10

9:26 a.m. Assistance was provided to get kittens out of a dumpster.

2:02 p.m. Complainant reported a large van was obstructing traffic. The driver was contacted and agreed to move the vehicle.

4:46 p.m. Report of a subject using a fire pit in violation of the fire ordinance.

8:11 REDDI report, though contact was made and the driver was not intoxicated.

Friday, Aug. 11

5:13 p.m. Reported damage to a decorative letter on a wall .

Saturday, Aug. 12

4:04 p.m. Nikolas Frazer was arrested for driving under the influence.

5:04 p.m. Report of juveniles walking along the street and throwing rocks. The juveniles were contacted and agreed to knock it off.

Sunday, Aug. 13

12:30 a.m. An officer came across two intoxicated female subjects and confronted them. One of the subjects struck the officer, giving her a black eye and breaking the officer’s glasses. Samantha Lopez was arrested for alleged public intoxication, interference with an officer and property destruction. Kathrine Parga was arrested for alleged public intoxication.

10:52 p.m. Report of a car seat being stolen out of a vehicle. The seat was later returned by an unknown subject.

Monday, Aug. 14

8:09 a.m. Report of vandalism in the state park, as hatchet marks were made on one of the trees.

1:33 p.m. Following a traffic stop, an officer detected an odor of drugs in a vehicle. Drugs and guns were later located in the vehicle. Corey Bloom and Andrew Gillum were arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance.

3:16 p.m. Jerhmia Caddell was arrested on a warrant.

4:14 p.m. Complainant reported a possible subject entering the house without permission and taking items.

5:44 p.m. Jeremy Smith was arrested on a warrant for alleged probation revocation.

8:17 p.m. A driver’s license was found and turned in.

9:15 p.m. Report of a dog bit by a rattlesnake in the state park. Vet info was given to the reporting party, and information was passed on to state park personnel.

Circuit court

Sean Protzman was bound over to District Court on charges of fourth-offense driving under the influence and third-offense possession of a controlled substance.

Kenneth Pulver was found guilty of pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance. Fees and fines are $440.00
