County fair packed full of fun

The Hot Springs County Fair for 2017 is just around the corner, filled with so many events everyone is sure to find something to do.

Open class building exhibits will enter at the fair building on Mon., July 31 from 6 - 8 p.m. and Tues., August 1 from 8 a.m. til 11 a.m.

Saturday, July 29 will feature the peewee horse show along with the 4-H and FFA youth horse show, starting at 8 a.m.

Things start moving on Monday July 31 with the dog show held that evening starting at 6 p.m.

4-H building exhibits and entrant’s interviews will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Aug. 1.

Also on Tuesday will be the County Fair Muzzleloader Shoot at the Bob Milek gun range at 10 a.m., shooting sports including archery, air rifle and air pistol at 1 p.m. in the multi purpose building, and a night of fun is sure to be had at the ever popular pig wrestling at 6 p.m.

The fair building will be open for public viewing at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2. Market animals will be weighed starting that morning at 7:45 a.m.

Come see the cat show at 10 a.m., the rabbit show at 11 a.m. and the poultry show right after the rabbits have finished. The kids will be showing goats at 2 p.m. and sheep at 3 p.m.

You won’t want to miss the kiddie pet parade-pocket pets on the patio at 6:30 p.m. and of course, Wed. night is family fun night, filled with all kinds of games and entertainment at 7 p.m.

Events continue on Thursday, Aug.3 with the swine show at 8 a.m. A new Kidz Water Games will start at 2 p.m. with an obstacle course, capture the flag and water balloon fights. The chili cook off will be in the multi purpose building at 5 p.m. followed by the beef show at 6 p.m.

Things wrap up on Friday, Aug. 4 with 4-H and FFA round robin showings starting at 10 a.m. A parade of champions will be at 1 p.m.

The final event of fair week will start with the pre-sale buyer’s dinner at 6 p.m. and the judge’s choice bake sale and junior livestock auction in the multi purpose building at 7 p.m.
