Thomas L. Harvey, 76, of Thayne, Wyo., passed away on June 15, 2017.
Tom was born on April 25, 1941, to Albert "Babe" and Florence Harvey in Thermopolis, Wyo. He had eight brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. Tom was a loving husband, father and friend.
Tom graduated high school in Thermopolis, joined the Wyoming National Guard, and went on to work on several dams in the northwest. He was an active young man, playing basketball and riding bareback in rodeos. Tom worked for the JR Simplot Company for 37 years, working as a drill foreman and master blaster, and completing his career as a Smoky Canyon Mine Site Supervisor.
Tom lived with his family in Georgetown, Idaho, from 1966 to 1984, where he was active in the Lion's Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge. In 1984, Tom and his family moved to Thayne. Tom loved spending time with his family, and never missed being with his grandson on his birthday. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. He especially enjoyed the hunting in the Frank Church Wilderness Area and fall steelhead fishing while camping in the Corn Creek campground on the Salmon River with many family members and friends.
Tom was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, and will be remembered as someone who was generous with his skills, time and spirit.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of 54 years; son, Lee (Stefanie) Harvey; daughter, Gwenna (Jay) Hill; and grandson Erik Harvey.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and sister.
The family will have a private memorial.
