Frank L. Hughes Sr., 75, of Riverton died Feb. 4, 2017, at his home, after months of declining health.
Frank was born June 19, 1941, in Gebo, Wyo., to Harold and Lillian (Morgareidge) Hughes. He was the youngest of 7 children. He attended school in Hot Springs County and continued to reside in Thermopolis until 1986, when he moved to New Mexico. He returned to Wyoming, making his home in Riverton.
He worked many years in the oilfields, drilling and later consulting. He also drove truck, hauling cars, and working for Haven's trucking in New Mexico. While team driving with his wife, he witnessed the terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001.
Frank enjoyed fishing the Beartooth Mountains, participating in and watching demolition derbies, four wheeling and old car restorations. He also enjoyed having coffee with friends and sharing stories.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Hughes of Riverton; children, Frank Hughes Jr. of Lorton, Va., Rhonda (Jay) Leonard of Lakewood, Wash., and Rachel (Brad) Hughes Becerra of Thermopolis; brothers, John (Kathy) Hughes of Albion, Calif., Jim (Carol) Hughes of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jerry (Bonnie) Hughes of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Ruby Green of Worland, Wyo.; nieces; nephews; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his third wife, Louise; sisters, Fae Hughes Benedict and Irene Hughes McVay; and granddaughter Kayleigh Dawn Leonard.
Cremation has taken place and online condolences for the family may be made at davisfuneralhome.com. A celebration of life will be held June 3, 2017 in Hot Springs State Park at noon.
