On the Record policy
It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Correction
In the May 11 edition, the prom queen was incorrectly identified as Kaili Johnson, rather than Johansen. The Independent Record apologizes for the error.

Tuesday, May 9
2:10 a.m. A suspicious subject was reported and contacted. There was no further information regarding the matter.
Wednesday, May 10
5:41 p.m. Report of a mother and child riding bikes unsafely on the highway. The parties could not be located.
Friday, May 12
10:53 a.m. Deputy responded to a citizen dispute on Red Lane. The matter was transferred to the county attorney.
Saturday, May 13
1 p.m. Report of a dispute on Red Lane. The matter was turned over to the county attorney. Another dispute in the same area at 1:59 was also turned over to the county attorney.
7:25 p.m. Report of a rock slide in the canyon. A deputy helped stop traffic while WYDOT cleared the area. Traffic was resumed following cleanup.
10:28 p.m. Suspicious activity was reported at a business, though it was later found it was simply maintenance staff waiting to get in.
11:45 p.m. A call was made with regard to an attempt to locate a subject. The subject was found OK.

Wednesday, May 10
8:49 a.m. Report of a vehicle blocking an alley. The vehicle owner was contacted and moved it.
11:29 a.m. Assistance was provided regarding a juvenile issue at school.
12:06 p.m. Two vehicles backing out of parking spots collided. The drivers exchanged information.
3:13 p.m. A civil standby was requested, though the officer was unable to provide one as he was busy with other matters.
3:37 p.m. Colton Robertson was arrested on a warrant for alleged probation violation.
Thursday, May 11
12:54 p.m. Officer responded to a shoplifting incident. Ernest Reynolds was cited.
8:41 p.m. Report of a missing juvenile. The subject returned home while an officer was speaking with his parents.
10:01 p.m. Officer responded to an argument between two brothers. The two later went their separate ways for the evening.
Friday, May 12
11:46 a.m. An assist was provided with Department of Family Services regarding a female subject and her welfare. The subject was later found to be OK.
Saturday, May 13
2:33 p.m. Complainant reported theft of children’s tricycles from his yard.
4:44 p.m. Caller reported leaving his bike in Candy Jack Park. It was missing when he returned.
Sunday, May 14
1:43 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a family fight. Jared Dumas was arrested for alleged domestic assault.
7:05 p.m. Report of food being stolen from a freezer outside a home.
Monday, May 15
1:57 p.m. Report of smoke, which was found to be the result of someone burning a stump out of a yard.
7:07 p.m Joseph McCain was arrested for alleged second-offense driving under the influence.
Births
Jack Thomas Hetzel was born Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Cassie and Quinton Hetzel of Thermopolis.
He weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 19.25 inches long.
Grandparents are Tom and Liz Ryan of Thermopolias and Louis and Vicki Hetzel of Powell. Wyo.
