Best of the Best caps off TMS season

Several Thermopolis Middle School students competed at the Best of the Best meet in Lander on Tuesday. Among them were seventh grade students Wyatt McDermott, Caydence Becher, Julie Johnson, Hallie Martinez, Mariah Brooks, Bronwyn Dobbins, Adley Coyne, Ayden Cox, Noah Hill and Hazen Thurgood.

Eighth grade students competing were: Logan Cole, Jaxson Jensen, Jocelyn White, Brianna DeVries, Dayna Sandberg and Jazmen Jensen.

The middle school tracksters had a strong showing on Saturday, during the conference meet. Results from the conference are:

Sixth grade boys

Long jump - Elijah Skelton, 14th, 11'8.5"

High jump - Gavin Shumway, ninth, 3'8"

Discus – Hadley Johnson, third, 69'4"; Spencer Calhoun, fourth, 60'8"

100 meters – Skelton, 13th, 15.52

400 meters –Shumway, fourth, 1:10.83; Skelton, ninth, 1:18.01; Calhoun, 12th, 1:19.12

200 meters – Shumway, fifth, 31.24; William Robinson, 10th, 36.61

The 4x200 team of Shumway, Skelton, Calhoun and Johnson placed sixth with a time of 2:21.45
