Agar to meet with committees

Senate District 20 representative Wyatt Agar will be keeping busy with committee meetings during the interim. A member of two joint committees — Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions, and Transportation, Highways and Military Affairs — Agar stated both will meet three different times to discuss topics outlined by management council.

Agar’s first Corporations meeting is May 18 and 19, and they will be discussing utilities, including electricity generation and ratemaking. “We are in a multiple state agreement for grid infrastructure with states that have passed ‘coal free by 2023’ legislation,” Agar stated. “The committee is assigned the job of mapping out how we precede in our dealings with those states. As we do so we have to monitor federal policies as well. We also have the task of looking into the Public Utilities Commission.”

His first Transportation and Military Affairs meeting is May 30 and 31. “We will be discussing funding for veterans’ home skilled nursing care,” he stated. “The committee will review military department information and LSO’s Program Evaluation Division audit entitled ‘Wyoming Department of Health: Veterans’ Home of Wyoming’ regarding funding, construction and operation of a potential skilled nursing facility on the veterans’ home campus or in another Wyoming community and may develop possible legislation for implementation. Wyoming is the only state without a skilled nursing facility for veterans.” The committee will also be looking at vehicle registrations.

Agar also noted he has a few speaking engagements through the spring for local groups.
