Golf season kicks off in Buffalo

Spring golf is underway for Hot Springs County High School with their first tournament being held in Buffalo this Friday.

Head coach Jacob Smith said there are currently eight golfers out for the team, but is expecting more once the Spanish Club returns from Peru next week.

The only new golfer, so far, is Cade McLean, a student Smith says has a solid background in golf.

"I'm excited to see what he brings to the team," Smith said.

Smith's goal for the spring season is improving and working hard on each individual's game. Without a culminating event with the spring season, there isn't too much pressure, so the focus can be on improving.

Smith said senior Kaylee Smith recently signed a letter of intent to play golf for Central Wyoming College next fall, so they will be working hard on her game to have her ready to start her college career.

Hudson Roling will continue to work hard on preparing to defend his state championship, too.

"We'll be saying good-bye to six seniors this season," Smith said, "Jake Maksin, Caleb DeCroo, Will DeVries and Logan Bartholomew on the boys team and Kaylee Smith and Kaili Johansen on the girls side. I wish them all the best with their bright futures."
