Adjournment not an end to public comment

As the 2017 Legislature came to a close last Friday, and with any session it means different things to everyone, depending on which bills passed, which failed and what action our chosen representatives took.

Here at the Independent Record, we have kept in contact with Nathan Winters and Wyatt Agar, and provided regular comments from them as the weeks went on. Among the issues which these gentlemen discussed with their peers were: wolves, sexual assaults, concealed carry in the schools, licensing fees, absentee voters, education costs and, of course, the overall budget for the state.

While Winters and Agar did what they could to provide information these past weeks — though some weeks one or the other did not have an update — it only scratches the surface of the multitude of topics handled by our representatives. For those who would like more information about a particular bill, and how those representatives voted, we encourage you to visit the legislature website at legisweb.state.wy.us.

The site provides ample information regarding the bills of 2017, as well as how to get involved during the session. While this latter is not so relevant now, the information is still nice to have available.

Though the session is no longer active, the site also provides contact information for Agar, Winters and all the other House and Senate representatives across the state. If you happen to have an issue with a bill or a particular politician’s votes and/or endorsements, take the time to let them know. Of course, we’ll also accept letters to the editor in this same vein.

Whether you choose to send a letter or not, always keep in mind these representatives are voted by the people and are representing us. If there’s something you don’t agree with, let them know.
