Last weekend, the Bobcat Robotics teams Fist Full of Axles and Aluminati travelled to Casper to compete in the Wyoming State Championship. Aluminati was seated in 22nd place, while Fist Full of Axles was seated at 16th.
Computer science teacher Steve Radabaugh further noted Fist Full was also chosen to be in one of the final alliances, with the alliance taking third place. During competitions, each match consists of four robots, two on each alliance.
Radabaugh also pointed out each of the Thermopolis teams won an award. Fist Full received the Promote Award for a video they made promoting the robotics program. Radabaugh said they had to use the video to answer the specific question of what robotics means to them.
Aluminati received the Control Award, for how their robot was programmed and what the machine can do autonomously.
With the State Championship, the robotics students are finished competing for the year. London Jenks, who coaches Aluminati, said all the students have grown in the program, and have certainly become more independent in knowing what their roles are.
The Aluminati team is: Joshua Canfield, Kole Cox, Jaxon Davis, Aaron Goodrich, Sarina Guyon, Aaron Hanson, Ben Manning, Krynn McGinty, Deanna Owings, Kain Randall, Lane Randall and Jazmyn Whipps.
Fist Full of Axles is: Clemens Abbott, Wrylee Barnett, Caleb Kessler, Kylar LaBoy, Clayton McKie, Eric Range, Keegan Robbins, Chris Slagle, and Wyatt Wright.
