Roy 'Dusty' Cable

Roy F. "Dusty" Cable, 61, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with heart disease and cancer.

Dusty was born October 2, 1955, in Amarillo, Texas, to Clyde and Frances Cable, the fifth of seven children. Following the death of his father, Dusty and his brother, Sandy, went to live at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in Texas in 1966. He graduated from Boys Ranch High School in 1974, and then attended Amarillo College.

Over the next 20 years Dusty lived mostly in Amarillo, and for a short time, in Thermopolis. While in Texas Dusty worked mostly at farming, meat cutting and construction. Following his mother's death in 1994 Dusty returned to Thermopolis permanently to be near his siblings. He worked at the Holiday Inn/Days Inn as a cook and morning kitchen manager from 1995 until his retirement in 2013. Dusty also served in the Army from 1981-1985.

Dusty's favorite hobby was fishing and spending time with Lucy, his white boxer and Cookie, the family cat. Dusty also enjoyed music, playing cards and was an avid reader.

He is survived by sisters, Hope Cable and Martha Katzenberger, both of Thermopolis; brothers, Clyde "Sandy" Cable and Howard (Carla) Cable, both of Thermopolis; stepbrother, Doug (Connie) Earhart of Shoshone, Idaho; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Dusty is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Duard "Tiny" Earhart; and sisters, Nelda Cable and Marie Richter.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with expenses may be sent to Hope Cable, 315 S. 10th St., Thermopolis, Wy 82443. Mortimore Funeral Home is assisting the family.
