This information is provided to let readers know of two sex offenders now residing in Hot Springs County:
•Jeffery Tanner - Residence: 280 Red Lane; Age: 45; Date/place of conviction: Oct. 8, 2001/ Torrington; Crime: Sexual assault in the third degree.
•Robert James Boyles - Residence: 280 Red Lane; Age: 44; Date/place of conviction: Jan. 9, 1998/ Kearney, Neb.; Crime: First-degree sexual abuse of a minor.
Sheriff's office
Tuesday, January 17
7:51 p.m. A welfare check was requested regarding a vehicle on Highway 20 North. The driver, was found to be OK, but was cited for possession of marijuana.
Wednesday, January 18
1:02 p.m. An assist was requested for Department of Family Services for an adult.
Thursday, January 19
11:23 a.m. REDDI call on Highway 20. The driver was cited for failure to maintain lane after being contacted by the deputy.
5:17 p.m. REDDI call on Highway 20 South. Complainant reported a truck was all over the road. The deputy was unable to make contact.
Police department
Tuesday, January 17
12:29 a.m. Alton Ramsey was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.
10:40 a.m. Salahuddin Najar was arrested for alleged probation violation.
12:38 p.m. Complainant reported receiving harassing phone calls.
Thursday, January 19
8:32 a.m. Report of a suspicious male subject who was allegedly watching kids at the bus stop. The subject was contacted.
1:30 p.m. Two dogs were reported missing, but were later found by the owner.
3:51 p.m. Report of two subjects in a truck with out of state plates who were talking with students at the high school.
8:14 p.m. Two possibly intoxicated subject were reported to be fighting. The subjects could not be located.
Friday, January 20
7:54 p.m. Report of a group, believed to be intoxicated, revving their engines. The responding officer patrolled the area but did not hear anything.
10:30 p.m. Report of a subject on equipment belonging to a business. The subject left prior to the officer's arrival.
Saturday, January 21
4:21 p.m. Two-vehicle collision on Senior Avenue. A State report was completed.
5:23 p.m. Caller reported nearly hitting two dogs on Senior Avenue. The dogs were located by an officer, impounded and later picked up by their owner.
9:03 p.m. Report of a possible protection order violation.
10:09 p.m. A cell phone was reported stolen.
Sunday, January 22
8:42 a.m. Report of a dog getting out. The dog was later located and put back in.
3:11 p.m. A dog at large was reported to be acting aggressively. The owner was contacted and secured the animal, but received a warning as well.
11:28 p.m. REDDI report concerning a white Chevy driving erratically. The driver was contacted, and was not intoxicated.
Monday, January 23
12:02 p.m. Layne Lurz, aka Layne Walz,was arrested for alleged protection order violation.
8:01 p.m. Report of a barking dog. The officer parked near the area, but did not hear anything.
Circuit court
Jeremy Smith was found guilty of use of a controlled substance and sentenced to 101 days in jail. Fees and fines are $240.
John Hodges was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and use of a controlled substance, and sentenced to 180 days in jail with 180 days suspension and two years unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $170.
Births
Elmer Albert Hergert was born Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Emmy and Holden Hergert of Wyoming.
He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 19.25 inched long.
