Volunteer Fire Department installs new officers

The Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department released their final call log for 2016 and installed new officers at a recent meeting.

The department averaged one call every three days during 2016 for a total of 108.

Among those calls were 24 responses to vehicle crashes and 29 grass fires. The grass fires totaled 1,762 acres burned during the year.

Firemen also handled five structure fires and two water rescues.

Mark Collins was once again elected fire chief and will be backed up by Bryce Gilbert, assistant chief.

Other officers include captain Cory Gilbert, lieutenant Jay Erk, Treasurer Ryan Georgious and secretary Josh Brown.
