Edward 'Big Ed' Wingert

Edward Allen "Big Ed" Wingert, 63, passed away Dec. 31, 2016, at his home in Thermopolis after a long illness.

Born Feb. 10, 1953, in Riverton, Wyo., he was one of seven children of Earl and Dorothy (Lebsock) Wingert. Ed graduated from Riverton High School. 

For most of his life he was a handyman including construction building, manager of the A & W Lanes and hotel management of Super 8. Ed moved to Thermopolis in 1983. In May of 1987 he married Jannice Steadman.

He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 1884. His interests included bowling, board and card games, camping, watching football and rooting for the Denver Broncos.

He is survived by his wife, Jannice; sons, Jay (Debbie) DuVall and Jayson Steadman, all of Thermopolis; daughters, Dawn (Ron Hinojos) Huffsteter of Thermopolis, Chelsea (Jeremy) Case of Sandy Hook, Miss., and Michelle (Rodger) Risinger of Paris, Texas; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bob (Kathy) of Windsor, Colo., Joe (Sandy) of Arizona, Mike (Ann) of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Jim (Raedell) of Buena Vista, Colo .; and two sisters, Mary (Mel) Rosenburg and Patricia (Larry) Spairs, both of Riverton, Wyo. 

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Brett Wingert.

A carry-in dinner will be held at the VFW on Saturday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. in celebration of the life of Big Ed.
