TMS wrestlers see first tourney action Jan. 7

The Thermopolis Middle School Wrestling team, according to Coach Toby Emery, has a young group of kids this year that seem very coachable.

“We are down in numbers from about 35 or so wrestlers last season to 16 this season,” Emery said. “Three sixth graders, nine seventh graders, and four eighth graders.” On the team is Jackson Jensen, Josh Roberson, Tyson Medina, Logan Cole, Austin Barral, Cole Christiansen, Landon Sosa, Jarek Sorenson, Charlie Sandberg, Brendan Thomas, Sean Johansen, Tanner Jensen, Carson Williams, Wyatt McDermott, Roedy Farrell and Matt Music

“We graduated fifteen 8th grade wrestlers last season, so we lost quite a few experienced grapplers. We have hopes that a few more kids will come out and join the team.”

The first tournament is Saturday, Jan. 7 at Rocky Mountain, beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the rest of the season schedule as follows: Jan. 14 @ Lovell Invite, 9:30 a.m.; Jan 21 @ Home for Thermopolis Invite, 9:30 a.m.; Jan. 28 @ Worland Invite, 9:30 a.m.; Jan. 31 @ Home for Thermopolis Quad, 4 p.m.; Feb. 11 @ Powell Conference, 10 a.m.; and Feb. 18 @ Riverton Spartan Invite, 10 a.m.
