On the Record policy
It is the Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Correction
In the Dec. 1 edition, the story “Community Church hosts sale, plans play” should read the candy, cookie and shoe sale is Dec. 10. The Independent Record apologizes for the error.

4:36 p.m. Report of a vehicle vs. deer accident at mile marker 130 on Highway 20.
Wednesday, November 30
4:16 p.m. A traffic offense was reported, though a vehicle matching the description given could not be located.
5:41 p.m. Report of a vehcile vs. deer accident at mile marker 135 on Highway 20.
10:07 p.m. Report of goats on the highway at mile marker 142 on Highway 20.
10:11 p.m. Deputy responded to a welfare check, though the reporting party had made contact with the subject in question prior to deputy’s arrival.
Saturday, December 3
5:14 p.m. Report of cattle on the road at Missouri Flats and Jones Road.
Monday, December 5
11:22 a.m. A red cow was located in a pasture on Missouri Flats. The owner of the animal was contacted.
4:39 p.m. A civil standby was performed for a female subject and male subject who were splitting up.

Tuesday, November 29
10:04 a.m. Arthur Grieve was arrested for alleged probation violation.
9:18 p.m. Officer responded to an attempt to locate, and was successful in locating a juvenile subject.
Wednesday, November 30
8:39 a.m. Subject reported receiving a threatening text message.
2 p.m. Response to a two-vehicle collision at 8th and Arapahoe. A driver was cited for failure to yield.
2:02 p.m. Caller reported someone doing cookies in a lot. The driver was contacted.
2:43 p.m. Report of a dog with puppies that appeared to have no food or water. The animals could not be located.
5:51 p.m. A subject was denied access to a business. The subject was contacted and told he would have to speak to the manager to change things.
9:10 p.m. Subject received a threatening text message. A report was done for documentation.
Thursday, December 1
1:42 a.m. Report of smoke in the 200 block of South 7th. The smoke had cleared by the time the officer arrived.
9:10 p.m. Subject received a phone call of a sexual nature. The incident was documented.
Friday, December 2
8:10 a.m. Report of a vehicle that went through a crosswalk when the guard was present. The matter was forwarded to the county attorney.
8:08 p.m. A phone was found and returned to its owner.
10:26 p.m. Two juvenile subjects were cited for minor in possession.
Saturday, December 3
8:15 a.m. Officer met with a subject at the vet clinic to drop off a dog found the previous evening. The dog was impounded.
2:46 p.m. Report of a subject selling meat out of a truck. The subject was contacted and told he needed a permit to do so.
7:14 p.m. Report of a barking dog. A subject was later contacted who took the dog inside.
Sunday, December 4
2:22 a.m. Report of two subjects at a local business who were arguing.
2:56 a.m. While investigating another matter, an officer came in contact with subjects who were smoking marijuana. A subject was cited for possession and use of marijuana.
7:13 p.m. Officer initially observed a driver who failed to stop. Donna Caress was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.
Monday, December 5
1:36 a.m. Complainant observed a suspicious subject letting someone out at a residence. The vehicle and subject were not located.
1:51 a.m. Report of a vehicle in a business parking lot. Officer located the driver in the front seat, who had pulled over to sleep. The business staff cleared the vehicle to be there a while longer.
8:24 a.m. Two-vehicle accident at Shoshoni and Circle Drive. The driver of a vehicle was attempting to stop and hit a patch of ice, and struck another vehicle.
9:12 a.m. A civil standby was performed to allow a person to recover a check from a former employer.
2:15 p.m. Complainant was receiving harassing text messages from an ex-mother-in-law and was informed the matter is a civil one.
4:45 p.m. Report of a missing Pekinese with a pink collar.
Circuit court
Daniel Brinkerhoff was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance, and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. Fees and fines are $570.
Stephanie Corbett was found guilty of driving under the influence, and was sentenced to 45 days in jail with 43 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $640.
Loren Durgin was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance, and was sentenced to 45 days in jail with 43 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $690.

Gideon John Morrison was born Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Staci and Brad Morrison of Thermopolis,.
He weighed 8 pounds and was 21 inches long.

Kate Carolyn Summers was born Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Nicole and Todd Summers of Thermopolis.
She weighed 8 pounds, and was 21.5 inches long.
