Dogs are better deterrent to crime than alarms

All the police reports of dogs running loose and barking I wonder if one person is doing much of the complaining. I like to hear dogs barking. They alert us if somebody’s around that shouldn’t be. Unless maybe they’re being abused, hungry, thirsty, left out on a cold night. They’re just four legged family and need love.

Burglars claimed dogs, even little ones, are better deterrent to crime than any other alarm. The most intelligent animal with their sharp smell and hearing are able to do many tasks impossible for man. They risk their lives, saving countless victims buried under rubble and snow. They do many jobs to help man. They help the disabled, herd cattle, protect sheep; how many of you have parachuted from a plane?

Depending on how much we talk with them, they have an ability to learn an unbelievable large vocabulary. With the courage of first responders they save the lives of hundreds policemen and combat troops. Most breeds have a natural sense to protect family, especially toddlers.

Of course they need food and water, love and a warm bed. They don’t pick up poop but are easily house broken. With uncanny ability to communicate they teach us if we pay attention.

But for all their trouble; folks that worry about a little barking may be missing one of the greatest gifts of life. Two dogs are better than one. They keep each other company when left alone; they won’t stray or tear up furniture with a play mate.

As an old married man, our life is anything but boring because of our furry little friends.
