Chamber Board looks at city maps

During the Nov. 10 meeting of the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, the board looked at preparing some maps. Chamber Executive Director Meri Ann Rush explained maps of Thermopolis would be printed on 12” x 18” sheets of paper, the reverse of which would have maps of Hot Springs County. These maps would space for businesses to advertise as well.

At this time, Rush said, they are just getting the information together; there are plans to discuss the idea further and start selling ads next month.

In other action, he board approved purchasing Quickbooks accounting software, at $49.85 per month. Rush noted the software is compatible with the new website through Chamber Master, and the price per month includes items such as software upgrades and technical support.

Also during the meeting, the board looked at the statistics for October 2016. Board Chair Greg Willson noted in particular the number of phone calls from local people, at 136. Rush said this could be a reflection that people are seeing the Chamber as a source for information.

Other statistics for the month were: 162 local walk-ins, 283 tourist walk-ins, 81 tourist phone calls, four tourism packets and seven relocation packets.

Under discussion was the monthly Meet & Greet. Rush said the board decided, for 2017, if someone wants to sign up to host it a specific month that’s great, but if nobody signs up then that month can be skipped.

The board accepted resignations from Miranda Nelson and Gayla Mead Ellis, and will begin looking at recruiting members. Josiah Butler was present at the meeting, observing to see if he wants to be the middle school representative.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Dec. 8, with a work session planned for Jan. 23.
