Mary (Brown) Slane, 74, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016, after battling cancer.
Mary was born November 16, 1941, in Thermopolis, Wyo., to James and Priscilla Brown. She grew up on the family ranch on Owl Creek in Thermopolis with siblings Charlotte Hart, Roberta Braton, Jimmie Williams and Clint Brown. After relocating to several areas in her life, Mary spent the last 25 years with her best friend Gary (Butch) Slane in Hawthorne, Nev.
Mary’s favorite times were the summers spent at Virginia Lakes. Whether it was watching birds and wildlife from the camp trailer window, fishing, or just enjoying each other’s company there was no place she would rather be. Mary was known to be a private person but those who knew her seen her kindness, quick wit and a little bit of an ornery side.
She is survived by her spouse, Gary (Butch) Slane; children, Lori (Dan) Oliver and Lynn (Jim) Ornsbey of Thermopolis, Wyo., and Michael (Shelly) Lovitt and Jonalee (Ben St.) Roberts of Hawthorne, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by parents, James and Priscilla Brown; sister, Jimmie Williams; daughter, Stormy Lovitt; and granddaughter, Priscilla Pankau
