Two battle for rural fire district position

There are two people running for the position of Hot Springs Rural Fire Protection District Director.

Linda Cowger said the firefighters are near and dear to her heart, and she believes we have one of the finest fire departments in the state. To maintain that, there needs to be money, which comes from tax dollars. She noted she would work her hardest to ensure tax dollars are spent in the best possible way to keep the department running smoothly with the best equipment possible.

Ken Smith chose to share his qualifications and what he could bring to the position. Having ownership in his own company provided him opportunity to gain experience in administration, accounting, purchasing and other aspects of management. He was also a member of a volunteer horseback unit that assisted with things such as search and rescue and crowd control.
