Bobcats fall to Rams

The Thermopolis Bobcats Football team lost while on the road in Big Horn last Friday, 53-8, bringing their record to 1-5. Last week, Coach Matthew McPhie noted the Rams were a physically big team.

The Bobcats faced a very good football team in Big Horn, McPhie stated, adding they are well coached, disciplined and they play hard.

"Our boys competed and did some good things," McPhie stated, but ultimately the 'Cats were "out physicalled," and didn't block or tackle well enough to keep the game competitive.

McPhie noted Ethan Becher and Jeffrey VanAntwerp continue to play well on the defensive side of the ball. VanAntwerp is averaging 2.3 tackles per game, and has had three solo tackles this season and nine assists, and Becher's stats show he's averaging .2 tackles per game and has made two assists..

Offensively, Offensive Lineman Austin Weaver continues progressing and did a good job at the center position; he's averaging 1.1 tackles per game, with one solo and 11 assists. Freshman Riley Shaffer was forced into action at tight end due to injuries, and he flew around and played well. Shaffer's averaging 3.2 yards per game and 19 for the season.

The team is looking forward to being at home again Friday, as they take on the 3-4 Newcastle Dogies. Though the game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., come to the field early to take part in the Booster Club chili feed, beginning at 5 p.m.

"The Bobcats will continue to work hard to improve our fundamentals," McPhie said, "and put forth a good effort on Friday night."
