5:30 p.m. Gas leak in the 500 block of South Eighth.

Thursday, October 6

5 p.m. Dryer fire in the 600 block of Shoshoni.

Saturday, October 8

8:13 p.m. Motor home fire in the 800 block of Shoshoni.

Sheriff’s department

Tuesday, October 4

6:25 a.m. Report of a dead deer on the highway obstructing traffic.

11:43 a.m. Female subject called to report a dispute with a neighbor.

Thursday, October 6

4:28 p.m. Deputy assisted with a cattle crossing.

5:15 p.m. Caller wanted to determine if a house trailer was movable, and received further information from Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Friday, October 7

9:21 p.m. Report of three vehicles racing. The vehicles could not be located.

Saturday, October 8

2:51 p.m. REDDI report on a vehicle coming into town from the south. Deputy observed the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane. Upon stopping the vehicle, deputy discovered the driver had not been drinking.

3:07 p.m. Report of vehicles racing. The vehicles could not be located.

Monday, October 10

7:39 p.m. Report of a dead deer on the highway. The deputy pulled the animal off the road.

10:48 p.m. Report of a two-vehicle accident. A vehicle backing out struck the rear of a second vehicle.

Police department

Tuesday, October 4

8:20 a.m. Reported theft of two bottles of vodka in the 200 block of South Fourth.

12:18 p.m. Caller asked where he could park a truck hauling roofing material, so as not to impede traffic.

12:49 p.m. Report of a dog at large. The dog was turned over to the vet clinic, and the owner was contacted.

2:14 p.m. Several blonde bricks with a notched face were reported missing in the 1000 block of Warren.

2:34 p.m. Report of alleged camping in a trailer in a lot. The trailer appears too small to be used as a dwelling . The owner was spoken to, and further action is pending.

3:15 p.m. Family called to report a missing dog. The animal could not be located.

8:23 p.m. Caller requested assistance with a dog that followed her home. The dog was picked up and taken to the vet clinic. Not registering pets with the town makes it difficult to find owners, and found animals are typically taken to the vet.

Wednesday, October 5

11:18 a.m. Report of a black and white cat missing from the 700 block of Amoretti.

12:14 p.m. Caller concerned about somebody driving who appeared too young. The driver was found to have a valid license.

Thursday, October 6

1:23 a.m. Report of a dog missing. The dog later returned home.

1:40 a.m. Caller was concerned about dogs locked in a horse trailer, though the animals did have food and water, and were being taken care of.

11:13 a.m. A grinder with a battery and a cut lock were found. Items were returned to the proper location.

11:40 a.m. Certified officer helped show someone how to properly install a car seat.

12:11 p.m. On a routine patrol, a dog was found in the street. The dog was taken back to its home.

3:04 p.m. REDDI report in the 100 block of South D. The vehicle could not be located.

5:32 p.m. Reported burglary of a storage unit. The owner was notified and it does not appear anything is missing.

10:26 p.m. Report of an unknown subject in a business. The subject was asked if he needed assistance, but said nothing and left the premises.

Friday, October 7

7:33 a.m. Report of a pile of syringes along a walkway. Five new syringes were found and disposed of properly.

9:32 a.m. Caller asked if an officer could pick up a cat left at her house. She had been feeding the cat through the summer, and was therefore legally responsible for the animal.

3:17 p.m. Reported burglary of two storage units. The owners said it appears nothing was stolen.

Saturday, October 8

2:15 a.m. Officers responded to a noise complaint. Upon arrival, they learned subjects had to crawl into a residence through a window, as the keys were locked inside. Officers were called back again, and asked people in the residence to keep it down. Officers were called back a second time and asked everyone but the owner leave the residence.

7:17 a.m. Officer was requested at the courthouse. A subject appeared agitated, scared and paranoid. A deputy spoke to the subject, as well as drug recognition expert Jerimie Kraushaar. Jeremy Smith was arrested for possession of a controlled substance by use.

4:06 p.m. Report of a vehicle that was all over the road. A subject in the vehicle was poking his head out of the sunroof, wearing a scary clown mask and scaring kids.

4:56 p.m. A dog at large was taken in, and the owner cited for fifth-offense dog at large.

5:32 p.m. Caller reported an unknown cat trying to get into the house. Attempts will be made to trap the cat and determine if it can be adopted.

Monday, October 10

11:30 a.m. There was concern over a male subject who could not be reached. The subject was eventually contacted and stated that he needed to get himself together.

Circuit court

Sheldon Skelton was found guilty of reckless endangering and careless driving, and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 180 days suspension and one year of unsupervised probation. He was ordered to pay fees and fines of $730.

Births

Leilani Kara Johnson was born Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Kelli and Chauncy Johnson of Thermopolis.

She weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

Grandparents are Garry and Joan Hoffmann of Wyoming and Brian and Rita Johnson of Texas.

Elijah Michael Hill was born Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Shannon and Robert Hill, Jr. of Thermopolis.

He weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 22 inches long.

Grandparents are Dennis and Barbara O’Keefe and Robert Hill Sr. and Pat Hill, all of Montana.
