Richard Alexander Letellier, 91, passed away on October 1, 2016, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
He was born July 30, 1925, in Klien, Mont. His parents were George and Marcelle Letellier. While in Klein his brother Robert was born. The family moved to Dubois on the Clendenning Ranch on Dunoir in the early 30's. George & Marcelle worked for Henry Clendenning who was the father of Esther Pickett Wells. While working on Dunoir they were blessed with another son, Henry. In 1934 the family purchased the Burlingham ranch near Dubois and Richards sister Mary was born there.
In the early years of education he attended a small country school on Dunoir. Richard and Robert lived with their grandparents Serre and attended school in Thermopolis through their junior high years. By this time there was a high school in Dubois, which Richard attended all four years. He completed his courses but was called to serve in WWll before he could go through the graduation ceremony with his classmates. He served in the Army Air Corp overseas until 1944.
After three years of College at the University of Wyoming he returned to Dubois and went to work for J. N. Fisher at Fisher Tie and Timber Co. He continued to work at the sawmill as Head Sawyer and filer for many years until he moved to Thermopolis and worked at the Hot Springs State Park ending his working career as the Superintendent.
Richard married Lydia Ward Kauble in 1975. They had 29 years together before Lydia passed away with cancer. Richard became ill with Alzheimer's and moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, with his sister Mary.
Richard loved to bowl, snowmobile, hunt and fish. He was active in the VFW club and was a Past Master of Dubois Masonic Lodge #53, Past Patron of Lupine Chapter #52 of Dubois and Past Patron of Vesper Chapter #19 Thermopolis Order of Eastern Star, and a member of Kalif Temple Shrine.
He is survived by his sister, Mary (Bucky) Finley; stepsons, Larry (Donna), Jerry (Barb), and Dan (Diane) Kauble; and several nephews and step-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Dubois, Wyo., on October 15, 2016, at 10:00 a.m.. Please join us for lunch with family and friends at the Masonic Temple following the graveside ceremonies. Donations may be made to Alzheimer's or to the charity of your choice.
