O'Day, Bronco Nell come to county library

On Oct. 11, beginning a 6 p.m., the Hot Springs County Library will host a program about Tom O’Day and Bronco Nell. The historical figures will be portrayed by Ray Maple and his wife Jackie.

The presentations will feature stories about these two outlaws, who were known for cattle rustling, as well as train and bank robberies. O’Day was friends with folks such as Kid Currie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Bronco Nell, whose given name was Ella Smith, had run-ins with the law when selling moonshine and a few “misbranding” incidents. Jackie, who portrays the outlaw, is herself a direct descendant of Tubercio Vasquez, a famous California bandit.

Refreshments will be provided at the library performance.
