On the Record policy

Wednesday, September 14

11:24 a.m. Report of a damaged tire on a fifth wheel. It appeared two small holes on the tire were caused from the roadway.

12:25 p.m. A student reported there was a fight planned in the Hot Springs State Park. Students were arguing, but there was no physical contact. A school incident was addressed by staff.

7:18 p.m. Report of someone driving on the old runway. The vehicle could not be located.

Thursday, September 15

4:13 p.m. Report of a vehicle all over the highway. The vehicle could not be located.

6:26 p.m. Report of a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle could not be located.

Friday, September 16

7:36 p.m. Fremont County official called to make Hot Springs County aware of a speeding vehicle. When a deputy encountered the vehicle, it was going the speed limit.

11:32 p.m. REDDI report, though when a deputy located the vehicle there was no observed reason for making a stop.

Saturday, September 17

6:23 a.m. Complaint of cows on the highway. The cows were put back into the pasture where it is believed they came from.

12:50 p.m. REDDI report on Highway 20, though a deputy was unable to locate the vehicle.

Monday, September 19

1:24 p.m. REDDI report on Highway 20. Vehicle was unable to be located.

2:23 p.m. Male subject wanted to turn himself in on a warrant. The subject was allowed to leave after paying fines.

2:46 p.m. Report received of a trespassing sign in the Red Lane area being removed and thrown in an irrigation ditch.

Tuesday, September 13

10:52 a.m. Report of a dog at large. The dog was licensed, but the owner was warned against the animal running at large.

12:41 p.m. Report of a dog barking in an aggressive manner, setting off other dogs. The owner was located, and was warned of being cited if this continued.

2:07 p.m. Caller reported hearing what sounded like a gunshot in Hot Springs State Park.

2:10 p.m. Report of an overgrown yard. The owner was told the yard needs mowing.

2:30 p.m. Responded to an argument between a male subject and female subject. The male was advised to leave and not return.

Wednesday, September 14

8:02 a.m. A black backpack was found scattered on the highway. The owner was located and the property returned.

8:46 a.m. Officer noticed a subject on probation in possession of a bottle of alcohol. Information was forwarded on to the county attorney.

10:48 a.m. Subject who was to submit to a breath test walked away. Information was forwarded on to the county attorney.

1:09 p.m. Caller was concerned about the number of broken down vehicles on a property. A letter was sent to the property owner.

3:57 p.m. Complaint of weeds and junk in a yard. The property owner stated he was working to take care of it.

8:30 p.m. A juvenile subject was cited for shoplifting.

10:31 p.m. Caller reported lost license plates. Officers searched, but could not find them.

10:48 p.m. Dustin J. Schepker was arrested for an alleged probation violation.

Thursday, September 15

8:22 a.m. Caller reported a vehicle passing closely behind two juveniles crossing the street.

8:59 a.m. Several complaints about a burning pit being utilized. The fires in the pit get quite big, and are not contained very well.

10:40 a.m. An unknown subject gained access to a building. The door frame was damaged.

6:51 p.m. Report of a traffic offense on Highway 20. The vehicle could not be located.

Friday, September 16

7:58 a.m. Report of an alarm, which turned out to be false, at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center.

10:30 a.m. Keys were found and turned in. They appear to be for a Lincoln or Ford.

2:53 p.m. A chocolate Labrador was found. The owner is unknown, but the female subject who found the dog said she would keep it.

Saturday, September 17

10:10 a.m. A dog running at large was returned to its owner, who was told to update the dog’s license and rabies vaccination.

11 a.m. Caller reported losing a Lifeline bracelet in town. Anyone who finds the bracelet should contact the police department.

12:17 p.m. A puppy was found, but was not impounded.

4:45 p.m. Officer responded for a custody exchange between parents.

5:24 p.m. A glass pipe found in Hot Springs State Park was entered into temporary storage for proper disposal.

9:19 p.m. Noise complaint, though the source of the noise could not be located.

Sunday, September 18

3:47 p.m. Two older male subjects got into an altercation. When an officer arrived, the victim was still there but the combatant had left.

4:37 p.m. Vehicle backed into another. No citations were issued.

11:37 p.m. Caller reported people were loitering, but they were just looking for a lost dog.

8:15 a.m. Reported dispute between two subjects at a local hotel. The male subject left, though the female subject remained.

Monday, September 19

10:28 a.m. Request from East Thermopolis Town Hall for Animal Control to stop at an address. A dog owner was reminded to update the animal’s license and vaccinations. A second, similar call came in at 10:29 a.m.

1:13 p.m. A cat and kittens were located hiding under a shed. However, the vet was out of town for the day so no traps could be set for the feral cats.

10:37 p.m. Report of a male subject receiving threatening text messages.
