Dorothy Dorman

Dorothy Lee Dorman, 92, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016, at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Born June 24, 1924, in Enid, Okla., she was one of eight children of John and Christina (Parizek) Semrad.

On December 26, 1940, she married Calvin “Bud” Dorman in Sayre, Okla. The couple farmed in Texas and Oklahoma. They moved to Mangum, Okla., where they owned and operated the ambulance service and Western Auto Store in addition to farming.

An amazing woman, Dorothy, in her early 80’s, was still hand mowing five acres and 40 acres with a tractor. She enjoyed gardening and all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She retired at 88, moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., and lived at the Wyoming Pioneer Home.

She was a member of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by her sons, John (Patsy) Dorman of Thermopolis and Joseph (Dee) Dorman of Lake Kiowa, Texas; brother, James Semrad of Arizona; sisters, Eleanor Sampsell and Mary Taylor, both of California, and Pauline Dorman of Colorado; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and six great, great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Bud, in 1988; daughter, Mary Ann; three brothers; and two grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass is pending at St. Francis Church. At a later date a memorial service will be held in Oklahoma and burial will be in Shamrock, Texas.
