On Sunday at 2:12 p.m., the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire off of West Sunnyside Lane.
Chief Mark Collins said the fire, which burned about 7.5 acres, started after a transformer arced when a bird flew into it. There was also some fencing on an adjacent property damaged.
The department responded with three engines, as well as a Class A pumper to provide protection to a nearby home. Also on scene were 17 personnel, and the fire was out within about two hours.
