Guyon honored as woman of influence

Angie Guyon, the general manager for the Wyoming Dinosaur Center, was the winner in the Business/Business Services category in the fourth annual Wyoming Business Report's Wyoming Women of Influence award ceremony Aug. 11.

Out of 12 nominees in the category, of nine overall categories, Guyon won first place.

Guyon has worked at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center for 15 years. She is also a member of the Hot Springs County Travel and Tourism Board.

When she was initially nominated, Guyon said she felt honored.

"I felt very honored that I was thought of in such a way as to be nominated for Wyoming Women of Influence," she said.

When she realized she had made the top three of the 68 women nominated, she said she was humbled.

"I felt extremely humbled that I was chosen amongst the outstanding nominees," she said.

The Wyoming Women of Influence awards were developed to celebrate women in business from across the state who have made important contributions to their industry and community.

The finalists and honorees were revealed at a luncheon in Laramie. The key note speaker was President of the University of Wyoming Laurie Nichols.

In order to be nominated for the award, candidates must live and work in Wyoming. Nominees can only be nominated for one award in any one year. Candidates who were nominated but did not win in previous years may be nominated again another year.

Guyon sent her brief comments via email but was not available for requested interviews.
