Sentence reduced for Jacobsen

On June 15, Chance Jacobsen was found not guilty on two counts of child abuse and battery, stemming from a December incident. However he was previously sentenced to 365 days in jail for probation revocation; that sentence was reconsidered in light of the not guilty verdict, and Jacobsen was officially released at 11:55 a.m. Friday.

According to court documents, prior to the December matter Jacobsen had been sentenced to one year of probation on each of two counts of use of controlled substance — methamphetamine, served concurrently, and one year of probation for child endangerment, served consecutively to the controlled substance charges. The probation would begin Sept. 29, 2015.

On Jan. 6, according to documents, he tested positive for meth. That, as well as his being charged with felony child abuse on Dec. 28, were listed in the petition for revoking his probation.

With the sentence reconsideration, following his release Friday Jacobsen was allowed to finish his probation on the two original controlled substance charges. That sentence will be completed Sept. 29; on the same day, the one-year probation sentence in the child endangerment case will commence.
