The 2016 Hot Springs County Fair is underway with a “Let’s Stirrup Some Fun” theme.
The horse show was held Saturday. There is plenty of action coming up to keep participants and spectators busy.
The shooting sports shotgun competition will be held Thursday, July 28 at 6 p.m. at the Bob Milek Memorial Gun Range.
The dog show kicks off a packed week of events on Monday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. on the grassy area to the east of the indoor arena.
Tuesday is move-in day when all building exhibits must be brought to the 4-H building from 8 a.m. until noon.
Shooting sports will follow at 1 p.m. at the north end of the indoor arena.
Plan on lots of laughs that night when the FFA sponsored pig wrestling kicks off at 6 p.m. in the outdoor arena. Deadline for entries is July 29 at 4:30 p.m. Entry forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce and Canyon Concrete. For more information, contact Cassie at 921-9257.
On Wednesday, all livestock must be in their stalls by 7:45 a.m. including poultry and rabbits.
Weighing of market animals will begin at 8 a.m.
The cat show starts at 10 a.m. with the rabbit show at 11 a.m. and the poultry show immediately following.
The sheep show will begin at 3 p.m.
The Kiddie Pet Parade starts Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. on the patio. It is sponsored by the FFA Alumni.
Everyone is invited to stop down at 7 p.m. for Family Fun Night, with food, games and more. There is also a pie bake off at 7 p.m. sponsored by the 4-H junior leaders. The pies will then be offered for sale. A watermelon eating contest will also be at 7 p.m. It will be sponsored by the FFA Alumni with prizes for winners.
Thursday the swine showing starts at 8 a.m.
At 2 p.m. on Thursday kids are invited to participate in the Kidz Relayz sponsored by the FFA Alumni. There will be a variety of games, relays and water balloon fun.
Thursday evening come on down and vote for your favorite during the FFA Alumni chili cook-off at 5 p.m. in the multi-purpose building.
The beef show will start at 6 p.m.
There’s a full slate of events on Friday too, starting with round robin showmanship at 10 a.m.
There will be a parade of champions at 1 p.m. sponsored by the FFA Alumni and a mandatory meeting for county delegates going to state fair at 2 p.m.
The pre-sale buyers dinner begins at 6 p.m. Friday evening.
The Judge’s Choice Bake Sale and Junior Livestock Auction will start at 7 p.m. Winners of the FFA Alumni sponsored livestock stall decorating contest will be announced during the auction. All livestock fair participants are invited to decorate their stalls to compete.
All livestock and building exhibits must be removed from the fairgrounds by 10 a.m. Saturday.
