Popsicles to end season

A Popsicle Night for the Tee Ball players is scheduled for June 30, beginning at 6 p.m. at the baseball fields. Recreation Director Brad Morrison explained this is an end-of-year event for the Tee Ball team, and Popsicles will be handed out to the players.

Baseball practices got underway at the end of May, with a total 58 signed up — 17 each in the Major and Minor leagues, 18 in Coach Pitch and six in Start Smart. The first game of the season saw a loss at home to Otto, 26-11, though Morrison noted it was a good learning experience for the young players and many performed well for their first game.

This past Friday saw the Minor League — eight- to nine-year-olds — playing in Otto. The Major League — 10- to 12-year-olds — played in Otto Tuesday.

Though scores were unavailable, Morrison noted both games were losses. However, he said the teams showed improvement. Morrison added that starting late in the season puts them at something of a disadvantage, and there are plans to revamp the schedule next year.

The Major and Minor leagues will next compete in Worland this Friday, July 1; Minors start at 6 p.m., with Majors following at 7:30 p.m. Major League players will also compete at Lovell on Saturday, July 9.
