Fun packed Freedom Run

The Big Horn Basin Riders are planning their annual Freedom Run for July 1 and 2 in Hot Springs County.

On Friday, July 1 a Meet and Greet will be held at 6 p.m. at One Eyed Buffalo. At the Meet and Greet, individuals can register for the 265-mile Poker Run as well as buy tickets for the Bag Lady Sue show to be held on Saturday evening. Tickets are $25.

Registration for the Poker Run will also be held at 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 2 at the Recreation Center. Prices for the Poker Run are $20 for the first hand, and $15 for each hand thereafter. Tickets for the Big Lady Sue show will also be sold during registration.

Participants in the Poker Run will leave at 9:30 a.m., starting at the Recreation Center heading towards Greybull through Shell Canyon and on to Red Lodge. They will then head back towards Thermopolis through Lovell.

Everyone is welcome to participate in the run, regardless of vehicle. Any vehicle that is approved by the Department of Transportation is welcomed to participate. Children are even welcome to ride along. The group plans to play a game of giant Jenga at every stop along the way.

After arriving back in Thermopolis at around 5:30 p.m., the night will be filled with plenty of entertainment for adults 18 and over. A band called Shark Twain will put on a show at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Center, followed by the Bag Lady Sue show between 8 and 8:30 p.m.

Organizer Troy Dorman said the Big Horn Basin Riders may even decide to float the river together on Sunday.
