Officer Cunningham joins PD

There's a new face out there helping to patrol the streets of Thermopolis - that of Officer Ron Cunningham.

Cunningham was officially sworn in June 7, though his first day with the Thermopolis Police Department was May 23. Born and raised in Riverton, Cunningham moved away to Kemmerer and later attended college at Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb. He graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice.

He moved to Las Vegas for about three years, but really wanted a position in Wyoming. He put himself through the law enforcement academy in Douglas.

Prior to coming to Thermopolis, he previously worked in Riverton 10 years. His career has included detective work, working with DCI and a Special Response unit. He has earned numerous citations, and the Medal of Valor.

His interest in coming to Thermopolis was it was something he wanted for his family - wife Erin and their children Blain and Grayson. Cunningham said he has really enjoyed the town and the people here are great.
