Kirby Bar and Grill opened Tuesday

Kirby Bar & Grill opened on Tuesday in Kirby. The restaurant and bar is owned by Cory Walk, Su Walk, Niki Baird and Allan Baird.

Steaks, chicken, seafood and burgers will be served in a casual atmosphere. The bar will have nine beers on draft and several bottled brews, including some local brews such as Kirby Creek Ale. A full service bar will also carry Wyoming Whiskey.

"We're keeping things simple," Cory said. "We want to provide people with good service and good food at a good price."

Cory said he and his mom (Niki) have been in the restaurant business for decades.

"I always seem to float back to the restaurant business," Cory said.

"It was always natural for me," Niki said. "It gets in your system, it gets in your blood. It's about the people you meet."

Niki said opening a restaurant in Kirby made the most sense.

"With Kirby, you're drawing from the Worland clientele, you're drawing the Thermopolis clientele and you've got the outlying areas inbetween," Niki said. "You've really got a good base, and I think we're going to work well with Wyoming Whiskey. Being out here, we'll compliment each other."

Niki said she wants customers to feel relaxed.

"We want the good ol' boys," Niki said. "We want the ranchers. We want everyone to come in and feel relaxed. We want repeat customers, and that's our goal."

In the bar, Cory said they have TVs for sports, a pool table, a dartboard and a jukebox.

"We're trying to work in bands and dances as well," Cory said. "We're trying to make this a destination."

Cory also said another draw is that there is barely any cell phone service at Kirby Bar & Grill.

"Out here, there's no cell service," Cory said. "We kind of view it also as a place you can bring your date where you're going to have to focus on each other."

Kirby Bar & Grill will be family-oriented in the restaurant area and adult-oriented in the bar area, Cory said.

Hours for the restaurant will be 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. seven days a week, and hours for the bar will be 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. – midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
