Next week, the people of Thermopolis will have a chance to take a second look at their community with the Rediscover Local Bus Tour.
Chamber Director Meri Ann Rush said the program was provided last year, with the bus traveling to different parts of town one Saturday a month. During these trips, passengers would stop at a few businesses and familiarize themselves with their products.
Due to a lack of interest, however, the busses were stopped. This year, Rush noted, she does not expect busses will stop, but instead drive by all of the businesses. She anticipates being on the tour to provide information. The tour provides a way for employees, managers and business owners to have a refresher course on the great attractions and activities Thermopolis has to offer.
If there is enough interest in the tours this year, Rush, plans on having them again.
Though primarily to re-familiarize people with Thermopolis, tourists could also get on the bus and get a look at what the town has. Refreshments may be provided, but riders are also welcome to bring snacks if they choose.
The bus has seating for 20, and will conduct 60-90 minute tours on Wednesday, April 13 at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Those who want a ride should meet at the chamber office, 220 Park Street. Rush said there has already been some interest in the 2 p.m. tour time. Those who would like to reserve a seat can call 864-3192.
