Weekend ranch sorting results

Ash Whitt and Jeanne Waring hosted a ranch sorting event April 2-3 at the Hot Springs County fairgrounds. Sorting involves two-person teams who must sort numbered cattle into a pen in order. The weekend saw competition on horseback, as well as stick horse.

Whitt and Waring hold monthly events beginning in November, which bring in people from across the state to stay in town for the two-day competition.

Results from the weekend event are as follows:

Saturday, April 2:

Enter Up 1st - Scott Ratliff and Laurie Gardner; 2nd - Scott Ratliff and Brett Gardner

Novice 1st - Jennifer Harvey and Laurie Gardner; 2nd - Kathy Sorenson and Colleen Hanson; 3rd - Gina Cuprak and Marty (no last name given)

Youth Sort 1st - Mesa Allen and Scott Raliff; 2nd - Mesa Allen and Laurie Gardner; 3rd - Mesa Allen and Jennifer Harvey. Allen also won the Youth saddle blanket.

Total Sort 1st - Scott Ratliff; 2nd - Marty

Sunday, April 2:

Quick Draw 1st -Gina Cuprak and Star Whitt; 2nd - Brett Gardner and Laurie Gardner

Total Sort 1st - Brett Gardner; 2nd - Kathy Sorenson; 3rd - Tie with Marty, Star Whitt and Vivian Butchart. Marty won the Total Sort buckles for Saturday and Sunday.

Quick Draw Pick Partner 1st - Gina Cuprak and Star Whitt

1 on 5 1st - Star Whitt; 2nd Laurie Gardner

Stick Horse Sort 1st - Kathy Sorenson and Jennifer Harvey

Kianna Mailoux won Best Dressed Stick Horse.
