Shirley Hermann

Shirley Mae Hendricks Hermann, 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton.

Shirley Mae Hendricks Hermann was born April 3, 1932, in Gillette, Wyo., to Wallace and Edith Wilamena (McClendon) Hendricks. As one of the last surviving graduates of the class of 1950 of Campbell County High School, she went on to get a degree in Special Education and taught throughout Fremont County School systems until her 82nd year of life.

In 1949 she met the love of her life, Charles Frank Hermann. They were married for 63 years.

Devoted to her Spiritual family of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shirley also leaves a vast array of devoted students and members of the BPW (Business & Professional Women), where she lead the professional organization for nearly 20 years.

She started her teaching career in Thermopolis and was the first special education teacher in the district.

Shirley leaves a legacy of generosity and compassion and will be missed by hundreds of friends and family. Shirley was the last Matriarch of her family.

She is survived by her children, Charles (Peggy) Hermann, Duane Hermann, Charla (John) Tarwater, Judi (Stuart) Cain, Shanna (Art) Barerra, as well as son Kevin (Hallie) Hermann; and over 60 grandchildren throughout the country.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and all of her siblings,

Services will be held to honor her birthday on Monday April 4, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Riverton at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
