Fire calls
Thursday, March 10
4:19 p.m. Grass fire at 712 West Sunnyside.
Sunday, March 13
1:12 p.m. Dumpster fire in the 500 block of Mondell.
Sheriff’s department
Tuesday, March 8
5:15 a.m. Subject reported striking a deer at mile marker 142 on Highway 20 North.
1:09 p.m. A gas drive off was reported at the Southside Travel Center. The vehicle was reported as a white Ford extended cab with 1 or 11 county plates.
1:45 p.m. Christine Briggs was picked up in Shoshoni and brought to Thermopolis for detention. Briggs is charged with alleged driving under the influence, driving under suspension, careless driving and open container, and was released March 11.
Wednesday, March 9
2:04 p.m. Caller reported a welder, plasma cutter and two guns were located at a friend’s home, and the friend was refusing to return the items. A deputy contacted the parties and a time to return the items was arranged.
7:24 p.m. A deputy was called to assist Wyoming Highway Patrol in administering field sobriety maneuvers.
8:16 p.m. Caller believed the oil in his vehicle was drained on the evening of March 8 or morning of March 9. There is no suspect at this time.
Thursday, March 10
6:17 a.m. Caller reported one of his ewes had been hit, killed and left in the roadway. Extra patrol was requested.
3 p.m. Azia Martinez was transferred from Washakie County to Thermopolis for detention, charged with alleged fraud and obtaining a controlled substance.
8 p.m. Dalton Donahoo was arrested on a Hot Springs and Campbell County warrant and charged with alleged probation violation.
Friday, March 11
9:51 a.m. Deputy was requested to perform a welfare check in the 400 block of East River Road. The deputy was unable to make contact.
10:53 a.m. Deputy was requested to the Hot Springs County High School career day. A juvenile male was cited for minor in possession.
5:46 p.m. Report of a black Yukon passing on a double yellow line. A deputy was unable to locate the vehicle in time.
Sunday, March 13
7:45 a.m. Traffic offense reported at mile marker 110 in Fremont County, toward Thermopolis. Deputy was unable to contact the vehicle.
11:03 a.m. Reporting party sold a saddle to a second party for $3,100. Payment came back nonsufficient funds. Buyer reported he had written the check on the wrong account, and the saddle was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office until an agreement between the two parties can be reached.
10:14 p.m. Report of a juvenile male who took off his ankle monitor and left home. A deputy took the subject into custody and transported him to the juvenile detention center in Casper.

Tuesday, March 8
10:34 a.m. A complaint came in of two girls teasing a cat inside a vehicle on Amoretti. Upon contact, neither the juveniles nor the cat was found.
1:13 p.m. Complaint of multiple cars parked on a lot in the 200 block of Clark. The issue is in the process of being resolved.
1:32 p.m. Complaint of debris, junk and vehicles in a fenced yard in the 200 block of Clark. Property owner was given a timeframe to clean up the area.
1:59 p.m. Report of a child separated from parent. The two were reunited.
11:43 p.m. Report of a miniature Australian Shepherd at large in the 400 block of South 6th. The owner later collected the dog.
Wednesday, March 9
11:18 p.m. A female subject reported medicine went missing when the Kirby salesmen were in town.
3:04 p.m. Caller reported a male subject who did not identify himself came to the door trying to sell a pen.
4:44 p.m. Report of an intoxicated male subject who was unable to stand in the 100 block of East Fremont. The subject was helped into his house, and a friend said he would watch him.
9:13 p.m. Caller reported a vehicle with an unrestrained child in the 400 block of South 6th. The vehicle could not be located.
Thursday, March 10
7:48 a.m. A gas drive off was reported at the Southside Travel Center. The vehicle, described as a gold Dodge Ram four-door, could not be located.
3:31 p.m. A REDDI call came in from the 500 block of Amoretti. By the time officer arrived, the subject was in his home and the car was parked.
Friday, March 11
12:25 p.m. Complaint was made of several feral cats at Grandview Trailer Park. Information was also received of someone trying to collar the cats so they would not be impounded. If cats do not have a city license, they are taken to the pound.
6:59 p.m. Report of a party shining a laser light in windows in the 800 block of Amoretti. No contact was made at the scene.
Saturday, March 12
11:31 a.m. A bag with pills in it was found in the 100 block of Cedar Ridge. The bag was properly disposed of.
10:25 p.m. Complaint of a dark colored Dodge Dakota four-door, with juveniles who were throwing firecrackers from the windows. Complainant tried to follow the vehicle, but lost it.
Sunday, March 13
10:21 p.m. Report of kids playing basketball in the 300 block of Amoretti. Information was also reported of a vehicle parked nearby with a driver suspected of watching them. Upon officer contact, the juveniles were allowed to continue playing, though no vehicle was found.
Monday, March 14
9:13 a.m. Complaint was made on a lawn in the 1100 block of Amaretti getting too long. The issue is in the process of being reolved.
1:07 p.m. A hit and run accident was reported at Family Dollar. It appears a vehicle hit the building, and officers are looking for matching marks on vehicles.
1:26 p.m. Reporting party said someone was stalking her, following her home and driving by her house. Complainant has had confrontations with the individual before.
9:24 p.m. Report from a hotel of a smell of marijuana in the hallway. Officers could not detect where the odor originated from.
Circuit court
Andrew Torpy was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance, plant, three ounces, and sentenced to 90 days in jail with 90 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fines and fees are $640.
Cindee Reynolds was found guilty of driving while license cancelled, suspended or revoked and use of a controlled substance, and sentenced to 90 days in jail Fines and fees are $230.
Carl Porath was found guilty of driving under the influence, and sentenced to 45 days in jail with 44 days suspension and unsupervised probation. Fines and fees are $540.
Courts
Lane Robert Gunkel has been bound over to Hot Springs District Court on charges including two counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, and one count of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor. All three charges are felonies.
Skyler McClure is bound over to District Court, on felony manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and delivery of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of controlled substance.

Birth
Remington Arthur Anderson was born Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Natasha Chopping of Worland and Brett Anderson of Thermopolis.
He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 20 inches long.
Grandparents are Angie Schnabel of Casper, Wyo., and Christine Getzfreid of Thermopolis. Great-grandparents are Tim and Jean Anderson of Thermopolis and Edward Chopping of Blackhawk, S.D. and Linda Chopping of San Diego, Calif.
